Catalyst Cooperative Healing is currently accepting inquiries for new worker-owners. If you are a licensed mental health practitioner currently licensed in Massachusetts or willing to relocate here, please reach out! Read below for more about this opportunity:
Why We Exist
The field of psychotherapy is often isolating, extractive, and demoralizing.
Clinicians are expected to carry high emotional loads while navigating systems that prioritize billing, productivity, and hierarchy over care, community, and practitioner well-being.
Catalyst Cooperative Healing, one of the country’s only mental health worker cooperatives, offers a different model. We believe that for therapists to provide transformative care, they must have power to shape the conditions in which care happens.
To do that, we are building a worker-owned therapy practice rooted in:
- shared ownership
- sustainable work
- mutual care
- community accountability
What This Is (And What It Isn’t)
This is an opportunity to become a worker-owner in a small and growing cooperative.
This is not a traditional job, nor is it a utopia. We cannot replace everything that is wrong with our field, but we commit to working together to build a sustainable alternative.
That means:
- You are not just a clinician—you are a coworker
- You participate in decisions about how the practice operates and grows
- You contribute to both clinical work and cooperative responsibilities
Ownership at Catalyst Cooperative Healing
Ownership requires engagement, communication, and accountability.
As a worker-owner, you will:
- Participate in decision-making (meetings, strategy, operations)
- Contribute to shared responsibilities (admin, outreach, systems)
- Help shape the direction and culture of the practice
- Share in profit generated by the business
Compensation Model
We operate with a shared, cooperative-based model rather than a fixed salary. The income is connected to the revenue you generate. As an employee-owned corporation, all workers benefit from their status as employees, such as paid family leave and social security. Worker-owners will also have access to employer-based health insurance and dental coverage through the US Federation of Worker Cooperatives.
This model offers:
- Greater autonomy and transparency
- Potential for increased earnings over time
- Shared investment in the success of the practice
- Tax advantages
Expectations of Worker-Owners
We aim to build something sustainable and collaborative. This includes:
- Maintaining a clinical caseload
- Participating in regular cooperative meetings
- Contributing to shared responsibilities (operations, outreach, systems)
- Engaging in open communication and feedback
- Supporting a culture of trust, accountability, and care

- Those not interested in ownership responsibilities
